Screen Repair
Cracked glass, a black display, lines across the screen, flickering, or a touchscreen that has stopped responding properly.

Samsung produces an enormous range, from budget Galaxy A handsets to folding Z series devices, and they are not all built the same way. What they largely share is an AMOLED display, and that shapes the faults we see: green or black lines across the panel, spreading dark patches, and screens that fail after a knock even when the glass looks intact.
We repair Galaxy phones at our shop on Carr Lane. Because Samsung screens are bonded assemblies, a damaged panel generally means replacing the assembly rather than just the glass — we will explain what that means for your model and what it costs before starting.

A vertical green or pink line appearing across a Galaxy display, sometimes after an update or a minor knock, is a well-known AMOLED failure pattern. So is a dark blotch that starts small and spreads. Neither tends to recover on its own.
Both indicate damage to the display panel itself rather than the glass, which means the screen assembly needs replacing. If you are seeing either, it is worth acting before the affected area grows.

It is a known failure mode on AMOLED panels, sometimes appearing after a knock and sometimes after a software update with no impact at all. It indicates damage within the display panel, and it usually means the screen assembly needs replacing. It does not normally clear on its own.
Glass-only repairs on bonded AMOLED assemblies are possible in principle but are risky and often not reliable in practice. For most Galaxy models, replacing the complete screen assembly is the repair that actually lasts, and we would rather do the job that holds up.
Bring it in and we will take a look. Folding devices are a specialist repair with expensive parts and limited availability, so we would want to assess the specific device and confirm we can source what it needs before committing to anything.
Yes. Galaxy batteries are glued in and the back glass has to come off to reach them, so it is a proper job rather than a clip-off panel, but it is a routine repair and a very worthwhile one on an ageing handset.
It may be, but not necessarily. USB-C ports on Galaxy phones collect lint readily, and a blocked port is a very common cause. We check that first before replacing anything — see our charging port page.
