What happens to the information you send us through this website, in plain terms.
Who we are
This website belongs to T-Repairs, a phone and tablet repair shop at 65 Carr Ln, Hull HU1 3RQ. For anything you send through this site, T-Repairs is the data controller. You can reach us on 07852 620665 or at the shop address above.
What we collect
Only what you type into the repair enquiry form. That is:
- your name
- your telephone number
- your email address, if you choose to give one
- how you would prefer us to reply
- details of your device and the fault — device type, brand, model and your description
Our server also records the ordinary technical information any web server records when a page or form is requested, including your IP address. We use that only to stop the form being abused — for example, to limit how many enquiries can be sent from one connection in an hour. The IP address itself is stored as a one-way hash for that purpose, not in a readable form.
We do not ask for and do not want your passcode, passwords, payment card details or bank details, and you should never send those through this form.
Why we hold it, and on what basis
We use your details for exactly one thing: replying to your enquiry and, if you go ahead, arranging the repair. The lawful basis is your consent — you tick the box on the form — together with our legitimate interest in responding to someone who has asked us a question.
We do not use your details for marketing. We will not add you to a mailing list, and we will not send you anything you have not asked for.
Who we share it with
Nobody. We do not sell, rent or pass your information to third parties for their own purposes.
The practical exceptions are the ordinary ones: our web hosting provider stores the website and its data on their servers, and our email provider carries the message telling us you have been in touch. Both act on our instructions. We would also disclose information if we were legally required to.
How long we keep it
Enquiries are kept only for as long as they are useful — while we are dealing with your repair and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you come back to us about the same device. After that they are deleted. If you would like your enquiry removed sooner, just ask and we will delete it.
Cookies and tracking
This site does not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies or third-party tracking scripts. There are no social media widgets, no embedded maps and no advertising pixels on any page — the links to Google Maps, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp are ordinary links that only do anything when you click them.
The only cookie the site can set is a temporary one used by the enquiry form to check that a submission came from a real browser session rather than an automated script. It contains no personal information and disappears when you close your browser. See our cookie information page.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- tell you what information we hold about you
- give you a copy of it
- correct anything that is wrong
- delete it
- stop using it, or restrict how we use it
- withdraw your consent, at any time
Contact us on 07852 620665 or at the shop and we will sort it out. There is no charge, and you do not need to give a reason for asking.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk. We would rather you came to us first so we have a chance to put it right.
Your device and your data
This is separate from the website, but it matters more to most people. Most repairs — screens, batteries, charging ports — do not involve accessing what is on your device, and we do not go looking through it. Where a repair genuinely needs the device to be unlocked to test it afterwards, we will tell you why and ask.
We always recommend backing up your device before any repair, with us or anyone else. Some software repairs cannot be carried out without resetting the device, and we will tell you before starting if that applies to yours.
Changes to this policy
If we add anything to the site that changes how information is handled — analytics, for example — we will update this page and the cookie information page before it goes live.
